Question:
Has anyone felt that hey were not going to loose the weight.

I'm afraid that I will stop now that I'm at 60lbs down.I'm 4month post op and fear that I will stop loosing. This doesn't seem real to me and I scared all this was for nothing.    — Janet S. (posted on September 3, 2002)

Janet - I know the feeling - I'm sure we're both wrong in our thinking. I've only lost 56 lbs. and am panicking that this is it!!!! I know in my head that just isn't possibly but believe our years of dieting/failing comes into play. We'll be fine and will keep loosing. Keep up the good work. Cande

What you are feeling is normal. Be glad for the loss you have experienced so far. It's a process, and what you are feeling goes along with the program. We all feel this way, but if you could just stay off the scale, stay focused, you'll do well. I got depressed during my plateaus, and now, at 10 months, am down 100 pounds, finally hit the century mark. I thought it would never come, but it did. You'll see. It's way too early for you go even think about giving up. Hang on!

Hi! I'm 5 weeks post op and have only lost 20 pounds. I'm scared silly that this is not going to work for me either. I have not deviated from the doctors all liquid diet, except to add 8 oZ of cottage cheese in place of one supplement and one juice. I did this to get extra protein, because I was so low on energy after the surgery. I just can't believe that I am not losing any weight. I have lost 18 1/2 inches so far, but the scales just aren't moving. I am only taking in 800 calories, 5 grams of fat, and 72 proteins, so you would think I would lose something. I'm actually concerned enough about this that I am going to call my doctor today. Good luck with your weight loss.

Janet, Don't get discouraged with your weight loss. I have now lost 60 pounds in 4 months. I lose around 2 pounds a week. I was disappointed with it at first but have decided that losing slower is better as it gives a person's body time to adjust and especially when you get older and don't exercise as much. Just keep up the good work and good luck. JoAnna
