Question:
How long should it take for our food to move thru our new tummy??
Hi guys. How long should it take for the food to move thru the tummy? I am a Lap RNY'er. I just wondered how long the full feeling is gonna last. I am really trying my hardest to go with it, and not make myself purge. I read what was posted below and DO NOT want to end up with an eating disorder. — August S. (posted on January 4, 2002)

I have a proximal rny and was told it takes about a half hour for the food
to move out of the pouch. so from the time you finish eating it should be
30 minutes.

I wish you'd elaborate for us. I mean are you asking how long till you go
to the bathroom? My physiology is truly very similar to pre-surgery in
that my digestion allotment (time) is about the same. That meaning no
bowel differences. If by not wanting to purge you mean doing what you're
supposed to do like chewing slowly and avoiding most large breads good. Be
grateful you had the surgery because it should deter you like me from
having stupid things happen to you like the binge-purge mania. It is a
little paranoid and you are lacking some self confidence. Honey you will
not develop an eating disorder. I didn't. I was bulimic in my early
twenties at 40 pounds overweight but just quit and got cured ( good dose of
common sense). Then I got really fat and took on the weight-loss surgery
journey. I am better and I am glad I got the open gastric bypass because I
am very satisfied with myself right now. Good luck and avoid urges to
purge.

Ok, what I meant was how long it takes for the food to move from the new
tummy to the intestines. It just seems like i feel SOOO full. I know it
is just the new sensation, but sometimes I find myself NEEDING to purge. I
hate it.
