Question:
What protien powders or liquids are best tasting?
I am 12 days away from surgery and need some help with protien powders and liquids. Has anyone ever tried the liquids? If you have,do they taste worse than liquid nyquil? My surgeon recommends bari-tec, but it seems a little exspensive. I wouldn't mind trying it but it is like $60 a container and I can't afford that just to throw it away if I don't like it! Pro Complex is what I have been drinking. I like the chocolate best. The
sooner you start drinking it the better off you will be. Give your body a
chance to get use to it before surgery.

there are a couple of websites that sell samples. personally i hated pro
complex the most of all i treid, but each person is different! i like whey
better than soy, but doctoring them up and adding things to them makes
them better. and if you get one at GNC and you hate it they will take it
back, thats a nice thing, since they are expensive to buy! www.vitalady.com
and www.wlssuccess.com are 2 that sell samples of different products to try
the shipping is about 6 dollars but the samples are between 1-2 dollars
each! good luck!

Hello, I tried Nature's Best, Isopure, Zero Carb pre-mixed protein drinks
in a 20 oz bottle. They have a few different flavors, I like the Grape the
best. It gives you 40g of protein in one bottle. At first, I didn't care
for them, but got used to them and I think they are a good source of
protein. You can order them at www.performancenutrition.com It costs me
$33.95 for a case of 12, with extra $6 for shipping. I believe
vitamin/nutrition stores sell them too, and some even sell single bottles,
so you could try some flavors before ordering a case. Good luck!

Hi, After trying many different types of protein powders, I have discovered
that I love the Isopure powder the best. I really like the chocolate. In
the mornings I put a scoop and a half in my shaker bottle and a packet of
the sugar free instant carnation breakfast powder(van. or choc.) and can
carry that with me till needed. Then I add about 6-8 oz of water and ice.
yummers. The other brand that I found at a health food store(not a chain
type) is the Jay Robb powders. He has a website if you do a search under
that name.
The isopure grape flavored drink is very tart but I cut it in half with the
carbonated fruit flavored water from Walmart(gets my H2o in as well). I
agree w/ the others who suggest trying samples...just find stuff you can
stir or shake as I found the blender style drinks (thick) made me want to
gag post op.

I like the Designer Whey Protein Blast (comes in grape, orange and maybe
another flavor). It has 40 g. of protein and only 1g. of carbs. Tastes a
bit like Kool-Aid without all the sugar. You can buy a single bottle from
a vitamin shop or a nutrition store (about $3.50/bottle, I think) to check
out the taste and if you like them, you can buy them online for about
$2.00/bottle at www.dpsnutrition.com. Good luck!

Sherry, everyone will tell you something different as protein
powders/shakes/liquids/bars are individual tastes. I have tried tons of
them to find the ones I like, but they may not be the ones you would like.
I would suggest that you go to www.vitalady.com and order some protein
powder samples and try them yourself. You can also go to GNC or a Vitamin
Shoppe in your area and get single portion sizes, or single bottles. And
don't bother trying all this before you have surgery as your tastes will
drastically change after surgery. Just have a bunch available to try.

Having had open rny on Dec 2nd, please listen that your tastes change. I
can do Carnation no sugar okay with either water or skim milk. I can also
do Real Meals chocolate with water or skim milk. At this point, do I
actually like either of them? Well, they're good for me and tolerable.
Everything still tastes too sweet at this point. Both of these pretty good
though.

I use the one my nutritionist recommends, because I can't stand the taste
of the store bought supplements....
2 cups 1% milk
1/2 cup dry milk
1 pckg no added suger carnation instant breakfast.
If you like chocolate milk, you'll like it, and it's 36 grams protein.
