Is is normal to have some blood in your stool the first few BM's?

I've finally been able to have 2 BM's. I'm 5 days post-op. Both times I noticed blood when I went to the bathroom. Bright red- not too much, but definitely blood. I feel alright otherwise so I don't want to bother my doctor. I'll see him this Thursday anyway. Is this normal?
