New Insurance on October 1st.... possible denial for pre-existing condition?

I'm going to be on my husbands insurance- Independant Health as of October 1st..is it possible that they could deny me the surgery b/c I've been planning it out (doctors visits, etc>>)before being accepted under their carrier? (I already have my PCP letter sent and appointment scheduled.)
