Has anyone had a fistula repair itself?

My mom found out the hard way that she has a bowel fistula that had abscessed and burst. Now, she's in the hospital with IV nutrition and nothing by mouth for several weeks. They're waiting to see if it heals on its own. I had a fistual of the bladder and it took three repairs to heal. Has anyone else had a tear or cut from surgery that healed itself? Please email me!!! I think she's being told things to cover the surgeon's butt for a mistake.
