I would like information from others who are taking medication for adhd

Recently I was diagnosed with ADHD and have started taking methophenidate. The normal dosage should last 3-4 hours in people that have not had gastric bp surgery. However, my medication passes through my system (it is absorbed in the stomach lining, not intestines)and stops working within 1 to 1.5 hours. I wonder if any others are being treated for this disorder? how have you, do you, handle the medication situation? what has worked for you? what has not worked for you?
