How much longer will

Yesterday, I saw my PCP and after being on Meridia & Xenical for two months and not seeing a great improvement, she's decided to "put in" a referral for me to see the WL surgeon. However, even though she said she'd put it in, she stated that she didn't believe in gastric bypass because of the complications. My question is....I've waited a little over two months for my PCP to even put in a referral - what time can I expect to wait with the insurance approval? I feel like one block wall's been knocked down and I have an even bigger one in front of me...!
