Gastric bypass surgery patients only add three years to life expectance??!!

Granted, I know if I have a choice to die today or live three more years, I would choose to live three more years. But there's some study saying that Post-Op Gastric bypass patients only add three years to their life. I'm really looking forward to being a looser (although, not looking forward to the hardships to come with it), but I really hope that I'm not going through all of this for a lousy three additional years. What is your take on this study?
