Does anyone have a problem staying hydrated while working out?

Does anyone experience difficulty trying to keep up with fluid intake as activites increase? Yesterday I went biking on a long bike ride (granted conditions were far from ideal - 86 degrees and humid)I was drinking water while I was biking, but obviously cannot "down" the water like I used to---- needless to say I think I suffered heat exhaustion --- I got to the point where I stopped sweating and got the chills over my entire body. My face was very flushed. It was a pretty scary experience, to have the chills and be cold in almost 90 degree weather. I don't plan to stop biking just because of the surgery--- I want to enjoy all of these physical activities now and get into better shape than I've ever been in. Has any one else experienced this? Any ideas on how to stay hydrated to avoid this from happening again? I've tried the "little bits" more often approach and I am constantly thirsty. -- I've noticed this while out doing yard work. Help?!!!!
