will the doc. prescribe something for my nerves the morning of surgery??

i'm still a couple of months away from open rny surgery, and even now i occasionally get butterflies in my stomach thinking of the morning "of". Does the doctor automatically prescribe anything to calm your nerves before going to the holding room, or do you need to ask? i'm so afraid i'll have the dry heaves going in........
