swallowing air with each sip of water

I can not get enough water taken in because after each sip I have to wait several minutes to let the air make its way back up. The doctor said I am swallowing air. I DO NOT KNOW how NOT to do this. I must get my water in. I have been home from the hosital one day. Had open RNY proximal. Please give any ideas you have for me to change my awful habit of 'swallowing water' Lisa marie
