When should I call Insurance Co. to find out status of Claim, w/o seeming too pushy?

My Surgeon's office said they would fax the Letter for Surgery on Thursday May 10th. How long should I wait to call the Insurance Company to see if they received it, and what the status is on the claim. I don't want to seem pushy or overbearing either. Tact is a hard thing when you are waiting for the rest of your life! :) Thanks in advance for responding, --Annie
