Being that I have to have MAJOR hernia repair, will there be a lot of pain?

I'm nervous about the surgery, it will be done on the second and it runs from sternum to belly button and it sticks out really far, my surgeon says it's huge. I also may be having my gall bladder removed at the same time (Not micro surgery). I was told I cannot lift a thing for three months after the surgery, is that pretty serious? Will I be in a whole lot of hurt after the surgery? Thanks! Hugs, Tracy
