Has anyone been able to eat most anything one week out.

My doctor never started me on a liquid diet. I went straight to soft/pureeded foods. Now one week out I can eat most anything without ANY problem. He says no sugar or caffiene. Last night I ate the inside of a low sodium/fat chichen pot pie (not the crust). Is this ok? I don't want to drop weight off real quick and stave myself. I want to use this tool to learn to eat the correct things in the correct amounts. I am looking at this as a life change. I read everyone elses post and think that I may be looking at this incorrectly. I have given up all sugars, not carbanated beverages, eat low fats and carbs. and no bread except crachers. I am not snacking. Snack foods are not allowed in this house!! I did all of this before surgery and lost several pounds prior. sorry so long just really fretting that I might be fooling myself wanting to just eat normal amount and normal food within limits.
