anybody with federal bc/bs from postal service required to get a psych eval?

i have an initial consultation on aug 10 with a surgeon in phoenix az & his office called me today to tell me that my insurance co requires a psych eval. when i protested & told him the only criteria in the insurance book was to be 100+ lbs overweight, he said this was something new. i am not worried about a psych eval as i am under the care of a psychiatrist already & he agrees to the surgery, i was just annoyed at the inconvenience of having to get in touch with my dr & ask him to inconvenience himself to do this as he is a very busy man.
