How important is it to have a caretaker for the first week or so?

I live alone and wonder how important it will be to have a caretaker there at home with me, either to drop in or to stay. What do y'all think? What have your experiences been? I'm having an open RNY on 4/20. Again, I'd appreciate your feedback.
