Have you had chronic diarrhea?

I have a friend who just had the surgery 3 months ago and she can not stop the diarrhea. She has eaten very little in the 3 months and for most of the time has been in the hospital. They have sent her home now and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. What did you do? She has lost over 200 pounds in the 3 months and I am very fightened that she will die if this continues. Thanks for any help you can give us.
