How can my family and friends access my profile?

I would like my family and friends to be able to access my profile so they can keep up on my progress on their own time. With so many living in far away states, it would be helpful for them to be able to read my entries and see my updated pictures when they want to. Do they have to become a "member" of this website in order to access my profile? If not, how do I tell them how to get in here and what site do they need to go to in order to track my progress?
