Will soft foods help you to feel better?

My husband had his RNY on May 8th. I am suppose to have mine in July after he feels better. He says he did not know it would be this hard. He is still on clear liquids so I keep telling him it will get better. I really don't know because I have not had the surgery. I feel really awful for him and it makes me wonder if I should do this. When he goes to soft foods will he feel better?
