I need advice in what meds. I can take for pain immediately pre-op.

My knee didn't make it to my surgery scheduled for 2/22/02. BTC says I can no longer take nsaids or aspirin drugs after Feb. 1. I now walk with a cane and have missed work due to pain. Two cortizone shots didn't help. I'm worried that I will not make it to surgery. Don't Vioxx and Celebrex work on the brain and maybe wouldn't be so rough on it? Any professional literature I can convince them with?
