Could I be turned down....for insurance because of weight

for insurance because of my weight?,this is my main concern right now,as I was turned down for life insurance because I was 18 pounds above their weight limit. Has anyone had this problem,I am applying for Pacificare hmo. Is life insurance more difficult to get than health? I am actualy fairly healthy except borderline diabetes,and weighing 300lbs.
