When do most doctors schedule the actual date?

Hi everyone. I know every doctor is different, but I have noticed that many people here have gotten their surgery dates BEFORE their psych & workup testing. Is this normal? I'll be going for my initial appointment soon and am wondering what to expect. Will they set me up for a date then & send me off to have my testing done in the interim or will I have to get all my testing done and when all the results are compiled, then get a date... How did it work for some of you?
