Telling people about your WLS prior to surgery

I was wondering if and when you shared that you were having or had WLS with others. I will be meeting with my Dr. after the first of the year and right now only my mom and two close friends know. I have mixed feelings about telling others once I am approved. Did you tell other people that you were having WLS before have it, and then why or why not?
