Why don't changes always show on my profile and why do the colors change?

I updated my profile 2 weeks ago to surgery date scheduled but it still says consult with surgeon completed. Now I've changed it to post-op..will that show up? Also, my background and text colors keep changing and I'm not the one changing them..why does that happen?
