Confused about a couple of things.....
I'm 3.5 mos post-op, ~60 lbs lost post-op(no scale or I'd be a slave to it!), ~25 lbs lost pre-op. I've read on here before that "eating too fast is the quickest way to stretch your pouch". Why is this? If you're eating 2 oz. fast or eating 2 oz. slow, it's still 2 oz., so why would that make your pouch stretch when it's the same amount? My doc doesn't want you to do *any* protein supplements after the first 6 weeks post-op; he wants you to get all your protein from your food. He also wants you to eat 3 meals/day, no snacking. I've ignored the no protein supps rule, because otherwise, I'd *never* get my protein in. When I told the nurse that I felt I was losing slowly because 1) until 3 months post-op, I felt uncomfortable when drinking water, so I wasn't drinking enough, and 2) that I was only eating about 500 calories/day, so my body thought I was starving. Her response was "how long does it take you to eat?". I responded 20-30 minutes depending on what it is. She then said that I should take a FULL HOUR to eat my 2 oz. of food. Does this make sense to anyone? Is she trying to say that if I eat for an hour I'll get more calories/food in? That doesn't make sense either. Now that I've been able to get in at least 64 oz. of water/day, I've been dropping weight like no tomorrow (over 10 lbs in less than 3 wks). I've also been getting at least 800 calories/day by doing one protein supp in the morning, then 4 small meals. Should I ignore their advice in this regard?
