What is this hard ridge under part of my incision and it burns?

I'm having some burning and stinging in the middle 1/4 of my incision. In this same part the tissue forms a hard ridge and is slightly tender to touch. I called my surgeon and his assistant said the stinging is healing and the ridge is called a "healing ridge".. not sure if i'm buying this or should incist on talking to the surgeon. Anyone else heard of this?
