How do I add links on my webpage?

I have noticed that many members here have started their own webpages documenting their journey. I have visited many and love each and every one. FINALLLY to my question...I decided to start my own homepage and was able to enter text and a link to this site but can't seem to figure out how to add things like the banner for this site and the BMI calculator, also a counter, images etc. If someone could please help me I would appreciate it. Thank you much.
