Should I switch doctors for post-op care?
I just came from my six-week follow-up. I have lost a total of 41 pounds (25 in the last five weeks) and my doctor is disappointed and says it isn't enough. I know in my heart of hearts that I am not eating anything I am not supposed to. I was going to start doing protein drinks for breakfast and he his vehemently opposed to that (saying it won't stay with me until my next meal). I stood up to him as much as I could but was still pretty beaten down. I dread going back in six weeks because I know it will be more of the same. (I told him so when I explained that I had lost eight pounds in the second week and was averaging 3.5 pounds a week since then. He was appalled and said that was definitely not enough.) He thinks I should lose 160 pounds in six months and, if I don't, I will never reach my goal weight. So much of what he says seems unhealthy. I think I need to find another doctor in Houston to handle the basic post-op care. After all, all my doctor did was weigh me, scold me and send me on for labwork. I will appreciate any comments and/or recommendations.
