Has anyone been denied health insurance because they had weight loss surgery?
I recently applied for health insurance for the first time since losing weight. I have always been healthy, with no medical problems to speak of, so imagine my surprise when I was denied coverage. I am of average weight now and was seeking the minimal amount of insurance solely for routine checkups and emergency situations. The insurance company (Health Net) told me they denied me coverage because I had had weight loss surgery (which was 1.5 years ago). Im disappointed to say the least. I had thought that getting individual health insurance would be a breeze once I slimmed down. Has anyone else had this problem?
