I need to choose between open and laproscopic proceedures. Any Advise?

If I choose an open proceedure, my surgeon will automatically remove my gall bladder. With a laproscopic procedure, the recovery time is less, but I have to wait four weeks longer for the procedure. I am leading toward laproscopic, but I wanted opinions of people who have gone through the proceedures already.
