I'm pre-op, have any of your friends tried to talk you out of surgery?

Some of my friends and family who do not want me to get the WLS have been telling me 'horror' stories of unsuccessful surgeries. I know that they don't have all the facts and the stories are unsubstantiated but it really gives me second thoughts. Any words of wisdom?
