Surgery too close to insurance effective date?

I signed up for insurance in the middle of December (Anthem HMO) and have sinced scheduled my preop consultation. My insurance is effective Feb 1, and my preop is Feb 4. When I signed my insurance application, I stated that I'm not considering any form of surgery. Now I'm concerned that since the preop date is so soon, it may raise a red flag as far as approval goes. Does anybody have any experience with getting approval so quickly after getting insurance? Thanks tons!
