What tests are required for Pre-Op in the UK?

I'm getting my surgery done with Dr. Pollard in Leeds. What tests can I expect and how are they done? (I am going to the BUPA hospital) I'm nervous about this blood gas test specifically as I tend to hyperventilate and go spare around needles (I hope they can sedate me prior to doing the blood work). Thanks!
