What is the likelyhood of death from surgery?

A friend of mine that had surgery 3 months ago passed away this morning..... she will have an autopsy to determine death, but I am worried I am a month post op, and want to know if the likelyhood is from her surgery or something else. I thought I was over the worry of death from surgery.
