My cousin had surgery weeks ago but suffered a leak complication.

After being in the hospital for weeks the doctor has sent her home. She is still on IV medications and is receiving tube feedings. The question is the doctor told her it will take time for the leak to heal up. Can this be right? They went in and did performed some surgical procedure after the initial surgery. Why wouldn't they close up this leak? Has anyone ever heard of leaving a leak to close itself? Please e-mail me at [email protected]
