What long term outcome research is available?

A gastrointerologist advised against a biliopancreatic diversion (BPD) on the basis of long term negative effects to the body. He said that all the studies provided only 10 year follow up and what do we know about individuals who had the operation longer than 10 years ago. What are the longterm outcomes? Particularly into old age, beyond 60?
