Am I nuts? No bariatric surgeons in N.M.?

Did I miss the boat or something? I have a friend who is looking for a surgeon in New Mexico and can't find one. I can't imagine that there's no surgeons there who are doing bariatric surgery there. If they're not doing surgery there....how come? Can someone give me the scoop?
