Has anyone had this surgery that had Diabetes Type I

I am getting closer to my surgery date (2wks to be exact) and have yet to meet or speak with anyone that had this surgery that had Diabetes Type I< Type I is where you where diagnosed under age 18 and will have it for life,no matter how big or skinny you are. I just happen to be big and they state this will help my blood sugars, But I really want to speak with someone who has been through this before who has the type of diabetes called gestational diabetes so learn from your experinces. I am on an Insulin pump. My questions are did your diabetes really get much better and where you able to lower your insulin amount.. AND has anyone that was diagnosed as a child ever come off the insulin all together. Thankyou Surgery date 02/17/03
