Has anyone have surgury having this condition

I went for my pre-op testing, and during my GI series, the doctor kept on asking me if I have heart burn and I would reply no, then he asked again, so I said why. he reponded you have a hiatel hernia, Is that going to effect my surgery that is scheduled for Nov. 22nd?
