can distal bypass patients eat caned nuts and can they consume suger?

i am having a distal bypass on november 12th, 2002 and recently ran into a gal that had the same surgery from my surgeon in augest 2002. she informed me that we cannot eat nuts no matter how well chewed and should avoid crunchy peanut butter and should consume smooth onlt due to the nuts can cause intestinal impaction. she also said that distal bypass patients can consume some sugers and don't dump like other bypass patients such as proximal. is this true?
