anyone have low hemoglobin levels post-op? what did you do?

I just went in for my annual exam with my OB-GYN and found out my hemoglobin levels were low. My doctor said this was normal after surgery but to have my PCP or surgeon keep an eye on it. He said mine was 9 and normal is about 12. I am 5 weeks post op. I have never had any problems with this pre-surgery. Anyone else have this post-op and did it get better on its own or did you have to take iron?
