What do I do about extremley dry skin and dehydration?

Since my surgery my skin is so dry that I am causing myself a rash from the scratching. I assume that is also related to the fact that I have had unbelievable dry mouth since my surgery also. No matter how much water I drink and how much lotion I put on, I can not get rid of either condition. Does anyone have any sugestions?
