What does it mean when your Ins. Co. tells you that the answer for surgery is in the

I just called my insurance company and was told that the answer for my surgery will be mailed out today, I asked if they could give me the answer over the phone and they said no. I am afraid that this means that it was denied and they don't want to tell me that over the phone. Help!
