Should I stay with surgeon who has longer or switch to the one I would really like?

I have just recived word that my referral was sent to a surgeon who has a 6-12 month wait. I would like to have a new referral sent to a BTC surgeon who has less of a wait, Should I request the 2nd referral or stick it out with this one? GOD BLESS EVERYONE!
