What are the absolute essentials I should buy

My husband just lost his job his first unemployment cheque was for $200, obviously we have limited funds. What are the ABSOLUTE NECESSITIES I should buy for the first couple of weeks at home. I don't have my nutrition consult until the afternoon before surgery, so I still do not have a food plan. I already bought Flinstone vitamins but that's about it.
