What's next after my family doctor appt?

I go to my family doctor tomorrow about having WSL if she ok's me to have it, will she do all the work with the insurance company or do I? I want to have it a the BTC in Columbus,Ohio because they specialize in it what if she suggust a local doctor to do the surgery..Im 1 hour from Columbus, do you think its worth the extra drive????
