Why do I feel weak and then pass out when having bowel movements?
I'm 3 weeks post-op (proximal open RNY)and am on a full liquid diet. I have not had any problems what so ever with puddings on this diet or anything else. Last night I ate some pudding and an hour later I was cramping to have a bowel movement. When my bowels started to move I became very weak, cold and clammy and felt like I was going to pass out. I headed toward the bedroom to lay down when in fact I did pass out. My husband says I wasn't out for long but then I had to go back to the bathroom and had a large loose stool and at this point I became very weak and clammy again, short of breath and I passed out the second time. My husband called the ambulance to take me to the hospital. My blood pressure was 120/40 which is low for me but all my lab work was normal, EKG was normal. I was given LR a full bag and feeling back to normal when I left the hospital. Why do I do this when my bowels have to move this is the second time this has happened to me.
