Am I already a failure?

I am pre-op and do not have a date yet. It will probably be between 4 to 7 more months. I have tried having only protein shakes but I get so HUNGRY! Right now I have a shake for breakfast and my regular lunch & dinner (not always the healthiest!) I have gone from NO exercize to 10 minutes a day. I am hoping that when I get a date I will be spurred into following the plan better. Do I have a chance?
