bcbs pos requires me to diet for 3 months before approval, any suggustions?

BCBS POS requires me to be on a dirt 3 months before approval, so should I actually try to lose weight? I am very close to the 100 pound mark and I'm scared if I'm serious about it I may lose some weight(and gain it back)but that they will deny me. Has anyone been through this?
